Have to agree with most other reviewers-this is a beautiful resort. Spread out over the peninsula with a small hotel and facilities building and dozens of individual villas. There is a bit of an air of style over substance, but the quality is there deep down.

Fantastic staff-always smiling, always pleasant , always trying to help.

WARNING-If you are physically disabled, this is not the place for you!

Initially, we were given room 88 and following advice from other travelers, resisted staying there. After staging a strike, management reluctantly moved us to Villa 17, which is perfectly located, centrally. Rooms 70 to 90 are all on the North Western edge of the estate and the hike to breakfast or the pool or the beaches is around 1500 metres-measured with fitbit!

Once we had moved , no more issues. There are dozens of individual waterfront areas, secluded and private and all with luxurious sunbeds, and there is never a problem getting a bed. The pool is absolutely superb, surrounded by day beds and loungers and tiled in a cobalt blue which looks stunning and is temperate-never too cold.

Personally, we thought breakfast was a bit lacking for a Five Star resort-not poor quality- just a bit lacking in imagination, superb coffee though, and of course, that service!

We upgraded to a Seafront villa, but were very disappointed with the condition of the rooms (we slept in two different ones of course). They are very compact and bijou and are desperately in need of refurbishment. Everything works perfectly, but it is just not five star quality and finish.HOWEVER, sleep quality is off the scale! Fantastic.Never slept better anywhere in the world!!

Overall, waking up to the most beautiful views of the resort and the sea and town beyond and then enjoying the peace and quiet-no pool noise-no yobs-no stupid games-no animation just quality relaxation-yes, yes, yes!

We want to go back, if we can afford it!!! Oh yes, I forgot, reassuringly expensive.

Peaceful hotel

All I can say is that I want to go back. Everything from getting picked up from the airport, greeted with ice tea, wine and fruit in the room. To the lovely meal options (I’m vegan so was worried there wouldn’t be anything to eat, there were loads of options). Stayed in a suite in the main building, lovely living room area and balcony. Perfect for watching the sun rise. I highly recommend waking up early and going down to the water to watch the sun raise.

The hotel is a short walk away from the main town area, which has lots of restaurants.

The staff were great, always friendly and willing to help.

Excellent Hotel and Customer Service! One of our new favorites

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in a Superior Overwater Bungalow for two nights and eventually a Two Bedroom Pool Villa for three nights (more on that in a bit). Upon arrival, we were seated in a very zen area overlooking the hotel grounds. We were given the rundown of all the places to eat and activities before being taken to our room.

Beautiful grounds and lots of cool Art to enjoy and take pictures if you’re an instagram influencer/model. One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve been to in the world. Also had super fast internet throughout the property. There is a tendency to encounter an occasional mosquito, but the hotel provides a plugin mosquito trap in the room in case you leave the door open at night and they happen to come in. We didn’t take advantage of the events but they looked cool from afar (Greek night, DJ night, Band night, Yoga). The proximity to downtown is a huge plus since you can just walk there in 5-10 min max.

ROOM #1 (Superior Overwater Bungalow)

The superior overwater bungalows were great and although shared sunbeds (semi-private), they had immediate access to the clear blue Aegean Sea. We purchased water shoes for 11 euro across the street so we could walk on the rocks seemlessly. The bungalows closer to the beach bar would be preferred if we did this again since we were further north closer to the harbor with views of the adjacent hill across the water. As Katherine was showing us our room’s features at check-in, she flipped on the AC and it was apparent the older wall unit was broken (was making loud sound) so she immediately sent a repair man to come take a look and fix it. We got settled in and they came to fix it. The first night it appeared to work well but on the second night, it began making a loud noise in the middle of the night that woke us up. We went and told Katherine again and her co-worker Alexandra, and recommended they probably replace the unit (since it did appear to be old). They apologized and said they would get back to us with a fix while we went to enjoy breakfast. Less than an hour later, Alexandra came to inform us that they would upgrade us to a 2 Bedroom Pool Villa for the remainder of the stay (Great customer service!) so we packed our stuff and they moved it over while we enjoyed the beach.

ROOM #2 (Two Bedroom Pool Villa)

AMAZING if you can swing any of the villas! We had a huge pool with four sunbeds! All of the fixtures, AC, electrical (USB) were more up-to-date. The view was great (Ocean and town to the right). We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels around the world (Maldives, Asia, Europe, etc) and this was easily in our Top 3 rooms. The beds in both the villa and bungalow were very comfortable. Only downside is they charge 2 euros for Nespresso pods (should probably be free for people that pay for these villas).

Really nice sandy beach and we noticed it’s fairly easy to score sunbeams there if you want since most people have their own or pool.

Breakfast buffet (had every day) was amazing and full of options for everyone. We did the 60 euro/couple dinner buffet and it was definitely one of the best buffets we’ve been too (in line with some of the top buffets in the 5-star Maldive hotels). The best secret is the Pure beach lounge that had some great bites. We ordered the pork gyro twice and the greek burger once (both amazing!). Service in all restaurants was great and very attentive.

The lady that runs the spa is very passionate about what she does. She recommended a 70 minute Cretan massage combined with our free 15 min voucher we got at check-in (85 min total) and it was amazing. From my experience, you do have to tell them to go more firm in Europe if you want a true deep tissue. But once they got going, it was definitely a great deep tissue massage. I would have booked another if we stayed longer.

Two treadmills, weights (although small sizes), benches, big area to do yoga and a punching bag with gloves. Used twice in my 5-day stay

THANKS Katherine, Alexandra and staff for making our stay in Agios Nikolaos a great one! Highly recommend this hotel.
